What This Site Is
Signwright is an independent editorial journal about hand-painted signage — layout, materials, technique, and the trade around it. Nothing on this site is an offer to sell signage, tools, or materials, and articles reflect the views and experience of their individual writers.
Use of Content
Articles are written for general reading and craft interest. They are not a substitute for hands-on training, a materials safety data sheet, or advice from a qualified professional before working with enamel, gilding size, or solvents. Techniques described here carry the usual risks of any workshop craft, and readers take on that risk themselves.

Text and original graphics on this site belong to Signwright and its contributing writers unless otherwise noted. You're welcome to link to our pages or quote a short passage with attribution; republishing whole articles without permission isn't allowed.

Layout Sheet is offered as a free companion tool for planning purposes. Its calculations are a starting point, not a guarantee of a finished result — measurements should always be checked against the actual board before paint goes down.
